OPEN CALL for the international project Spreading the Roots!
In collaboration with partners from Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, we announce the opening of the OPEN CALL for the contemporary circus performance FOREST, as part of the international project “Spreading the Roots.”
We invite local artists working in theater, dance, circus or aerial acrobatics to join the international female team which will stage the performance FOREST, created by Danijela Zajc, Slovenia.
The show uses aerial movement, dance, and contemporary circus, along with a set design made of plastic and water to draw attention to serious issues from our society: climate change, ecofeminism, and the impending ecological cataclysm.
In Romania, the show will be created during a 7-day artistic residency in Timișoara, taking place between October 28 and November 1, 2025, and will premiere to the public on November 3, 2025.
Join the international cooperation project, meet the original Matafir creative team from Ljubljana, and sign up using the form. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2025.
The entire artistic residency will be conducted in English, and detailed information about the selection criteria in the Open Call can be found in the form.
