In January 2025 we spent 5 days in Budapest, at the Theaterin1car sustainable theater workshop prepared together with our partners, the Independent Theatre Hungary and the Mikser Theatre from Serbia, and where the Open Call winners from Serbia, Bulgaria and Poland also attended.

We had creative sessions to explore the process of creating theater performances with two actors playing multiple roles, creating eco-friendly and cost-efficient props, costumes and scenery, which can fit in a car for easy transportation. We discussed and explored the stereotypical portrayal of rural communities and diverse social groups, the appropriateness of addressing or avoiding them and last but not least, we looked for ways to engage the audience in creative actions and further discussions that reflect the performance’s theme and the local community life.

The workshop is part of the international cultural project Theater in 1 car, co-funded by the European Union and in which Basca Theater partners together with the Independent Theatre from Hungary and the Mikser Theatre from Serbia. The Theaterin1car project focuses on creating sustainable, environmentally friendly and cost-efficient performances in which two actors play multiple roles and fit into a car.
